Luigi can turn invisible by crouching down or hide behind objects to remain out of view. It is also possible to improve this ability by switching between his regular and invisible state. The Poltergust 3000 has been redesigned with the "Super Strobes" and "Dark-Light" feature to help Luigi see in the dark while finding hidden objects. As in the original Luigi's Mansion, there are multiple mansions in which Luigi can explore. A new feature includes a 3DS-exclusive area called the Museum of Boos where players can view paintings of characters from previous Luigi's Mansion games as well as one of Luigi himself, level bosses, enemies, portraits, and artwork. A new gameplay mechanic called the "Luigi's Toy Pad" lets Luigi interact with various toys he can find in the mansion. As indicated by a screenshot, Mario is captured by Captain Toad. Toadette goes to Professor E. Gadd to try and help him rescue Mario, but she has been kidnapped as well.
